The formal character of the original building is defined by its unusual roof shape and prominent chimney. The client was keen to open up the rear of the property which contained the kitchen and was disorganised and dark. By adding a simple volume to the ground floor, the kitchen and dining area were extended creating a cosy, ordered and light space whilst dormer windows to the first floor allowed the bathroom and Lockhurst Farm was badly damaged during a fire with a large amount of the roof and first-floor structures becoming unusable.
